Having trouble with ClayHog? This guide covers common issues and their solutions.

Tracking Issues

My prompts aren’t being tracked

Possible causes:

  • Tracking hasn’t started yet (new prompts take up to 24 hours)
  • Payment or subscription issue
  • Prompt formatting errors

Solutions:

  1. Check that your subscription is active
  2. Verify prompt formatting (no special characters)
  3. Wait 24 hours for initial tracking to complete
  4. Contact support if issue persists

No citations appearing

This could mean:

  • Your content isn’t being cited by AI models (yet)
  • The prompts aren’t relevant to your content
  • Your domain hasn’t been verified

Solutions:

  1. Verify your domain ownership
  2. Review prompt relevance to your content
  3. Optimize content for AI discoverability
  4. Try broader or more specific prompts

Dashboard Issues

Data not updating

Check:

  • Your internet connection
  • Browser cache (try clearing it)

Solutions:

  1. Hard refresh: Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac)
  2. Try a different browser
  3. Clear browser cache and cookies
  4. Disable browser extensions temporarily

Charts not loading

Common fixes:

  • Enable JavaScript in your browser
  • Disable ad blockers for clayhog.com
  • Update your browser to the latest version

Integration Issues

CMS integration not working

For Storyblok integration:

  1. Verify API credentials are correct
  2. Check API rate limits
  3. Ensure webhook URLs are accessible
  4. Review integration logs in Settings

Note: Additional CMS integrations (Contentful, Sanity, WordPress) are coming soon.

Integration API Errors

If you encounter errors with the Storyblok integration:

  • 401 Unauthorized: Verify your Storyblok API token is correct
  • 429 Too Many Requests: You’ve hit Storyblok rate limits, wait and retry
  • 500 Server Error: Temporary issue, try again later

Note: ClayHog’s public API is coming soon and will have its own error codes and documentation.

Account Issues

Can’t log in

Solutions:

  1. Reset your password
  2. Check for typos in email address
  3. Verify email confirmation
  4. Try incognito/private browsing mode

Billing problems

  • Payment failed: Update payment method in Billing
  • Unexpected charges: Review your plan and usage in Billing
  • Questions about charges: Contact support for clarification

Subscription changes

To change your plan:

  1. Go to Billing
  2. Click “Change Plan”
  3. Select new plan
  4. Confirm changes

Note: Plan changes take effect immediately. Upgrades are prorated; downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle.

Performance Issues

Slow loading times

Tips to improve performance:

  • Use a modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)
  • Close unnecessary browser tabs
  • Check your internet speed
  • Reduce date range on reports

Data Export

Data export is available for Enterprise plan customers on demand. If you need to export your data:

  • Contact your account manager or support
  • Specify the data and format you need
  • Receive download link via email

Available export formats: JSON, CSV, PDF

Data Accuracy

Discrepancies in data

Why this might happen:

  • AI models may give different responses over time
  • Regional differences in AI responses
  • Timing of data collection
  • Cache delays (data updates every 24 hours)

Missing competitors

Competitors must be:

  • Added to your tracking list
  • Have a verified domain
  • Be actively cited on tracked prompts
